Wedding Advice
Read MoreOver the last 20years, I have seen both the good and the bad of weddings and events. While every event I have ever photographed was in the end a success, not all of them went smoothly. Careful planning, a little double checking, and realistic expectations can make your special day everything you dreamed of.
Make sure the groomsmen try on their Tuxedos, including shoes and all accessories. Wrong size or poorly fitting Tuxedos are the most common problem I see at weddings. Forgetting a white t-shirt and black socks is also common.
While we are thinking about tuxedos, plan on feeding the groomsmen a snack at the church, or they will revert back to their neanderthal roots and go hunting for hamburgers. This leads to being late and having traffic accidents. Some simple sandwiches and clear soda will keep them satisfied ( no catsup or mustard ). Trust me on this it happens a lot.Wedding shoes can really bite the bride and bridesmaids since they are rarely comfortable. In a full length wedding dress your shoes do not show enough for anyone to notice. If you have to cut something out of your budget this is one thing to think about. If you do buy a new fancy pair of shoes, bring a pair of comfortable white or nude heels to walk around in after the ceremony. I also recommend that all the ladies bring a very comfortable pair of shoes to dance in. Inevitably, there is broken glass on the dance floor. We see a lot of incidents where someone cuts themselves dancing barefoot.
Brides often have high hopes for the little people in their wedding. Remember that it is not easy for adults to face a room full of strangers, it is even harder for a child. I have observed that children do not want to leave their parent to walk down the isle. If the child sees their parent waiting for them at the other end near the alter, they are more likely to walk towards them. If things really go wrong and the child starts crying someone needs to be prepared to pick them up and walk out of the room.
